Newsletters

Dumfries u3a publishes a newsletter about every month. Below are links to the last half dozen or so.

Further down the page are links to a number of national u3a sites. These can include events, workshops and free online session, which any Dumfries member can attend.

The March Newsletter has a report on the February meeting when McNbb Laurie the D&G Woodlands manager gave us a fascinating talk. There is the news from the Groups as usual. This month the Birging group, the Writing Together Group, the Sewing Group, the Practical Gardening Group, and the Camera Group all have something to tell us, And that is no tall inthis interesting edition . In our February newsletter we have the final instalment of the Etymology Group's Shipping Forecast series plus news from the Writing Together Group, the Sewing Group. the Birding Group, the Non-Fiction Book Group the Craft and Chat Group, the Fun Quiz Group and last but not least the Drama Discussion Group. In the January Newsletter the fascinating account of the Shipping forecast continues. There is also news from a number of groups. In addition there is the coffee break read, a delicious sounding recipe and an intriguing quiz

Our December Newsletter has the usual miscellany. And also the unusual, for example a Christmas carol in Franglais! There is news from lots of the groups including a 'Match Report' from the Discussion Group, a coffee break read from the Writing Together Group and how to fall down, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again! The November Newsletter has the usual a host of interesting articles. There is a report on the October meeting and news or information from nine different groups. This plus a Christmas pudding recipe and and a novel quiz. There is also information on a Dumfries u3a Facebook page. To view it follow this link. The October Newsletter is another bumper edition with a great 'coffee break read' of local interest, and a new feature - a recipe!  It's from member Sue Price, who runs the Mahjong and Fun Quiz groups, and the newsletter editor can personally vouch for how tasty her baking is.  If you happen to have a favourite recipe then please share it with our editor Carol Moyes it would make a great regular feature.

The September Newsletter has new feature this month, courtesy of the Writing Together group, named the Coffee Break Read.  We hope you'll enjoy it, and the rest of the newsletter, with your feet up and a cup/mug/glass of your beverage of choice in hand. As usual there is lots of group news and there is a very intriguing picture quiz.

As well as supporting u3as in Scotland u3aS provides online groups and monthly talks accessible to all members of any u3a in Scotland. These are especially useful to those who are unable to access such a topic at their own u3a, or are unable to go to in person groups such as those with a disability or those caring for others. It also encourages networking of members across Scotland
